Free box breathing timer: take a quiet moment
General information from the Pea team. Not medical advice or a clinician-reviewed treatment plan. How we write.
In this guide
Use this timer to guide a short breathing break. Box breathing follows four equal phases: breathe in, hold, breathe out, hold. If holds do not feel comfortable, choose gentle breathing instead. This is a general relaxation tool, not a PCOS treatment.
Get comfortable first
Sit somewhere supported. Breathe gently, without forcing a deep breath or trying to keep up with a pace that feels wrong. You can stop at any time. Do not use the timer while driving, swimming or doing anything that needs your attention.
A count is only a guide
The NHS suggests breathing comfortably and without forcing it. Use the shorter pace or the no-hold mode if that suits you. Stop and return to normal breathing if you feel dizzy, breathless or uncomfortable. If you have a condition that affects breathing, ask your healthcare professional about suitable exercises.
What the tracker records
The timer shows your current phase and completed rounds for this session. Pause freezes the timer; reset clears it. Leaving the tab pauses the timer. Your session is not uploaded or saved after you leave the page.
After the timer
There is no target feeling you need to achieve. Take a moment, then return to what you were doing. If you want to jot down how your day feels, Pea offers daily check-ins. Persistent or severe symptoms deserve appropriate care, rather than another timer session.
